The City of Boise invites high school and college students (ages 15-21) residing within Boise city limits to apply to serve as a Student Commissioner on one of the City of Boise's Commissions from June 2025 to June 2026.
The City of Boise is committed to engaging the voices of young people in the civic process. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to contribute their perspectives on important issues, develop leadership skills, and gain a deeper understanding of municipal operations.
Applications are due March 31, 2025, by 11 p.m. MT.
Finalists will be notified by mid-April and new commissioners selected by early May.

Goals of the Youth Commissioner Program:
- To involve youth in the decision-making processes that affect their community.
- To provide students with hands-on experience in government operations.
- To foster a sense of civic duty and leadership among young people.
- To ensure diverse and representative youth input in city policies and initiatives.
Eligibility:
- Must be a high school or college student (ages 15-21).
- Must reside within Boise city limits.
- Be in good academic standing.
- Access to transportation.
Commitment:
- Serve full term (June 2025 to June 2026).
- Prepare for and attend at least 75% of commission meetings.
- Participate in an orientation and any other meetings as needed.
- Approximately 2-5 hour time commitment per month.
